Inside Asterias’ first sustainability report

Asteria sustainability report 2024

Asteria’s Sustainability Report
A bold step toward a more responsible packaging industry

At Asteria Group, we’ve always believed that leadership comes with responsibility. In a sector built on paper, plastic, and complex global supply chains, we understand the urgent need to rethink how we design, produce, and deliver value. That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of our first-time sustainability report – a clear, transparent reflection of the progress we’re making and the road ahead.

This report marks the beginning of a new chapter for Asteria — one grounded in accountability, innovation, and collaboration. And it’s more than just a milestone for us. It’s a tool designed to help our customers and partners navigate the evolving sustainability landscape, together.

Why sustainability is core to Asteria’s strategy

Sustainability at Asteria is not a side project — it’s integrated into everything we do. As our CEO, Ives Declerck, puts it:“We are committed to being a frontrunner, integrating sustainability into every aspect of our business.”

What began as a response to customer demand and regulatory requirements has evolved into a strategic driver of long-term growth, operational excellence, and cultural integration across our 35 sites in 10 European countries.

In 2024, we made significant progress:

  • Strengthened our ESG governance with a new Chief Sustainability Officer and a dedicated sustainability framework
  • Expanded our Asteria Sustainable Solutions (A.S.S.) portfolio
  • Piloted industry-leading technologies like UV-LED curing
  • Completed our first group-wide carbon footprint assessment

Asteria Sustainable Solutions (A.S.S.): a smarter way forward

One of the highlights of the report is our Asteria Sustainable Solutions programme. This growing product portfolio helps customers:

  • Reduce their packaging carbon footprint
  • Meet regulatory requirements (such as PPWR)
  • Improve recyclability and material circularity
  • Maintain quality and cost-effectiveness at scale

Real-world case studies — such as our collaboration with a major food & beverage brand — demonstrate how A.S.S. products like wash-off labels have helped brands reduce emissions and comply with recyclability standards.
